Phase Space Tomography of Matter-Wave Diffraction in the Talbot Regime

چکیده
We report on the theoretical investigation of Wigner distribution function (WDF) reconstruction of the motional quantum state of large molecules in de Broglie interference. De Broglie interference of fullerenes and as the like already proves the wavelike behaviour of these heavy particles, while we aim to extract more quantitative information about the superposition quantum state in motion. We simulate the reconstruction of the WDF numerically based on an analytic probability distribution and investigate its properties by variation of parameters, which are relevant for the experiment. Even though the WDF described in the near-field experiment cannot be reconstructed completely, we observe negativity even in the partially reconstructed WDF. We further consider incoherent factors to simulate the experimental situation such as a finite number of slits, collimation, and particle-slit van der Waals interaction. From this we find experimental conditions to reconstruct the WDF from Talbot interference fringes in molecule Talbot-Lau interferometry. ar X iv :1 20 2. 62 86 v3 [ qu an tph ] 4 M ar 2 01 2 Phase Space Tomography of Matter-Wave Diffraction in the Talbot Regime 2

Velocity Inversion with an Iterative Normal Incidence Point (NIP) Wave Tomography with Model-Based Common Diffraction Surface (CDS) Stack
Normal Incidence Point (NIP) wave tomography inversion has been recently developed to generate a velocity model using Common Reflection Surface (CRS) attributes, which is called the kinematic wavefield attribute. In this paper, we propose to use the model based Common Diffraction Surface (CDS) stack method attributes instead of data driven Common Reflection Surface attributes as an input data p...
متن کاملMeasuring amplitude and phase of light emerging from microstructures with HRIM
Ultra high-resolution measurements of amplitude and phase fields emerging from fine period amplitude gratings are presented and discussed. In the axial direction periodically repeated features are found, whose origins are the Talbot effect within the Fresnel diffraction regime. The phase field recording leads to a very precise measurement of the localization of the Talbot planes and precisions ...
متن کاملPhase anomalies in Talbot light carpets of self-images.
An interesting feature of light fields is a phase anomaly, which occurs on the optical axis when light is converging as in a focal spot. Since in Talbot images the light is periodically confined in both transverse and axial directions, it remains an open question whether at all and to which extent the phase in the Talbot images sustains an analogous phase anomaly. Here, we investigate experimen...
متن کاملPhase Imaging with an X-ray Talbot Interferometer
X-ray Talbot interferometry (XTI) is described as a novel phase-sensitive X-ray imaging method. XTI uses two transmission gratings, and therefore in principle it functions with cone-beam X-rays of a broad energy band width, allowing its instrumentation with a compact X-ray source. Because an amplitude transmission grating is needed, X-ray lithography and electrochemical gold plating were employ...
متن کاملFractional Talbot effect in phase space: A compact summation formula.
A phase space description of the fractional Talbot effect, occurring in a one--dimensional Fresnel diffraction from a periodic grating, is presented. Using the phase space formalism a compact summation formula for the Wigner function at rational multiples of the Talbot distance is derived. The summation formula shows that the fractional Talbot image in the phase space is generated by a finite s...
